Actress Brigitte Lin Recalls Triad Dealings
Taiwanese actress Brigitte Lin who shot to fame internationally with her role alongside Jackie Chan in the 1985 super hit, Police Story, spoke out this to a Taiwanese newspaper this week that she was offered 2.5 million Taiwanese dollars by a Triad gang figurehead to star in a movie.
According to the actress who has been in retirement since 1994, being a big film star wasn’t necessary a good thing as many leaders of the Asian underworld would approach and harass her.
Lin said: “They were straightforward in their dealings and were open to all kinds of conditions. Even if I failed to take up their offers, I would Ultimately be pressured into doing what I had rejected”.
The actress recalled one night when a gangster went to her appartment with a bag filled with cash, and covered her living room table with 2.5 million Taiwanese dollars in banknotes. After he left, Lin brought the money into her bedroom, put whatever she could into her small safe and placed the remaining cash in a drawer. She could only deposit the sum into the bank the next day.
My friends said I was really bold after they found out about the incident”, she said.
She also disclosed that as she was frequently harassed and stalked during filming, her crew had guns within easy reach, in the trunk of her Nanny’s car.
“Thinking back about the times when I was often harassed by underworld figures, I am simply grateful to God that I am still alive,” she said with a sign of relief.

Interesting reading but strange how or why she should now want to tell all this.. If it was me I would want to keep that to myself.
