Armour of God 3 Next For Chan

Jackie ChanRecent Asian press reports confirm that the Chanster is set to reprise one of his most popular characters for his 100th film in the third instalment in The Armour of God series of movies. Armour of God: Chinese Zodiac (aka: Armour of God 3 or technically Operation Condor 2) will star Jackie as well as seeing him co-directing alongside frequent collaborator Stanley Tong.

The film with a budget of close to 250 million HK dollars is produced by Emperor Motion Pictures subsidiary Emperor Dragon Movies and plot-wise it looks as those Chinese Zodiac will see Chan on another series of treasure hunts across the globe that are intricately linked with one of the major events in Chinese history.

The film has been in discussion for some time, with Operation Condor: Armour of God 2 co-director Frankie Chan pencilled in to direct at one point. But now Chan will co-direct with five-time collaborator Stanley Tong, who helmed such Chan starrers as Rumble in the Bronx, The Myth and the third and fourth entries in the Police Story series.

Filming is scheduled for October 2009 once Chan has completed shooting his next Hollywood movie, Kung Fu Kid. The shooting locations reported for Chinese Zodiac are France, Vienna, Beijing, Hong Kong and Kazakhstan.

The first Armour of God film shot way back in 1985 saw Chan suffer his most serious injury yet with a fractured skull. He dislocated his sternum in the sequel – so fingers crossed he will go unscathed in part 3.

Fingers crossed this part 3 doesn’t disappoint and let the other movies down.

He’s better off doing Drunken Master 3 or Project A 3 instead of this one! He’s too old. At his age, his character won’t look believable being an adventurer (just like Harrison Ford didn’t in Indiana Jones part 4). He could play a good Sifu in Drunken Master 3 or play it straight drama in Project A 3.

At last! I really can’t wait for this. I just pray it doesn’t disappoint. Fingers Crossed

This should be great, my only reservation is that Chan is not as young as he is in the first films and they were stunt heavy films. We know he’s not going to do those heavy stunts that might kill him so I hope he turns up the fighting for this one.
