Chow Yun Fat in Shanghai

Chow Yun Fat

Although he may be about to ruin his career by appearing in the upcoming ’Dragonball’, Chow Yun Fat does have another movie on the horizon that could prove to be a saving grace. That film is ‘Shanghai‘, a period piece set in the 1940s that also stars John Cusack and Gong Li.

Film Synopsis:

An American man returns to a corrupt, Japanese-occupied Shanghai four months before Pearl Harbour and discovers his friend has been killed. While he unravels the mysteries of the death, he falls in love and discovers a much larger secret that his own government is hiding.

The film will be directed by Mikael Hafstrom (’1408′, ‘Derailed’) and is due for release in the US on the 25th December 2008.

I hope Chow doesn’t completely forget his Asian film career for Hollywood money.
