Eric Tsang Promotes 72 Tenants of Prosperity in Beijing

Tsang is also the lead male in the New Year movie, which has been hailed as an equivalent to the mainland’s Founding of a Republic in terms of celebrity star power.

The comedy casts a record 174 stars, including Jacky Cheung, Joyce Tang Lai-ming, Charmaine Sheh See-man, David Lo Dai-wai, Bernice Liu Bik-yi and Lawrence Ng Kai-wah, just to name a few.

Tsang said he has made the best of his network to bring together the megawatt cast.

72 Tenants of Prosperity is based on the 1973 Shaw Brothers film The House of 72 Tenants, but it is a new creation that only keeps a few of the original roles.

Shaw Brothers Studios, Hong Kong’s foremost movie production company, saw its heyday in the 1960s and 70s, but is set to make a resurgence with the star-studded New Year release.

The film will be released on February 11, 2010.
