Jackie Chan in new Woolworths clothing ad
Kung Fu hero Jackie Chan is set to appear in a new Woolworths TV ad which breaks on ITV1 on Thursday (10th April 2008).
The action hero takes on Woolworths brand characters Wooly and Worth in a fast-paced, comedy ad that promotes the high street chain’s new range of Worthit! clothing.
Worthit! clothing is a new range of value children’s clothing which includes t-shirts for 70p, jeans for £2, shorts for a £1 and tracksuits for £5. A whole kid’s outfit can be purchased for £6 from the range. It makes Woolies as cheap as Tesco, Asda and Primark in the fiercely competitive children’s clothing market. The ads were created by London-based agency BBH. Matt Waller, creative director at BBH, says: “Jackie brought the magic of Hollywood. Wooly and Worth bought the Pic ‘n’ Mix. For us, it was a match made in heaven.” Lee Bannister, brand communications manager at Woolworths, says: “Our customers told us that they loved last year’s Worthit! ads and they delivered some stunning sales results for us. This year we’ve kept the same format but refreshed the celebrity involvement and delivered more Wooly and Worth one liners.
“Jackie Chan is well known and popular figure with Woolies shoppers. His involvement will deliver additional cut through and give a real boost to the launch of Worthit! clothing.”
