Kareem Abdul-Jabbar gained millions of fans when he squared up (or should that be stood up) against a certain Bruce Lee in Game of Death. The former NBA basketball star now aged 62 spoke out to The Assocated Press this week that he was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia last December.

Jabbar is already taking oral medication for the disease and his doctors informed his last Christmas, “you have a very good chance to live your life out and not have to make any drastic changes to your lifestyle”.
