Los Angeles production company Spitfire Pictures is producing a remake of the 1974 horror kung-fu flick, The Legend Of The 7 Golden Vampires. The project is just one of several potential remakes of the classic Hammer Films following the recent company buyout by Dutch producer John De Mol.

The original film was an attempt by the struggling studio to capitalise on the growing success of the kung fu genre. It saw Peter Cushing reprise his role as the famed vampire slayer Dr. Van Helsing, who while lecturing in China, comes to the aid of villagers cursed by six Chinese vampires led by Dracula himself. It also featured Shaw stars David Chiang and Shih Szu in co-starring roles, along with action choreography by Liu Chia-liang and Tan Chia.
