Screen Power Readers Meet Jackie Chan In Hong Kong (May 2006)
After a couple of months of very hard work planning and organising alongside Jackie’s Hong Kong Office - In the first week of May we took 18 of our UK based magazine readers to hang out with Jackie.
Not only did these guys have five exciting days in Hong Kong sightseeing they also got their photos with Jackie, asked some questions, walked away with some Jackie-goodies, take a tour of his offices and studio and also visit some of the sets used for Jackie’s new film - Rob-B-Hood… Check out the photos of many happy smiling faces with their idol!
What The Fans Say
SCOTT LANE (Gloucester, UK)
I had so much fun with Screen Power in Hong Kong and meeting Jackie Chan was amazing!! I got some great photos of Jackie and I even got autographs from the JC stunt team!On the second day of the tour we visited the Jackie Chan Kowloon studios where the new film Rob-B-Hood was shot! I couldn’t believe it when Jackie arrived by surprise at the studios with his dog Jones, that was unbelievable!
I met some very friendly people on the tour and Richard and Rebecca from Screen Power were very organized and a lot of fun to be around.
We visited the Jade market and went to some really nice restaurants in one such restaurant Richard took us too we all had to cook all the food ourself in a wok on our table! Richard also showed us all where Jackie had done some of his best stunts including the shopping mall from Police Story.
Going to Hong Kong with the Screen Power gang was one of the best holidays I have ever been on and I will definitely be back on future tours.

As I sit down to write, I think about how blessed I have been to have met so many wonderful fans during the Jackie Chan Global Friendship Tour. Of those fans, the Screen Power group comes to mind.My husband Paul and I were warmly welcomed by Richard Cooper and Rebecca Allen and even asked to come along with their group to see several sites of Hong Kong and Kowloon. We felt so welcomed and such a part of the group. It was really a wonderful feeling!
Richard took the time to point out various places that Jackie had made movies or did stunts. He also gave us two issues of Screen Power, which were really great reading! and Rebecca, before the trip, took the time to email me many times with valuable information about the tour and Hong Kong.
We also met a lovely couple, John and Petula Leyland-Brown who were with the Screen Power group. We became friends instantly and had so much fun, especially sharing our thoughts about Jackie!
Meeting Jackie.. well.. never have I met a more considerate, kind, true man. I’m just so amazed when I think that he took the time for all those individual pictures with over 300 people, and gave that beautiful smile for all of them to treasure!!
Paul and I had the time of our lives meeting Jackie in Hong Kong and meeting Richard, Rebecca and the Screen Power group made it that much more special!

Our Grateful thanks for such a memorable trip. So many people tried in so many different ways to describe how Jackie had impressed them but all ultimately similar, his down to earth style, his genuine love and ease with people, a man you would share a pint or two with, no self importance or instance on ’star’ treatment a true man at ease with himself, and so on.On the trip, our friend Paul’s comment was probably the best, ” I only came along because my wife was a Jackie Chan fan but having met the guy, I’m really impressed and the more I think of it the more I’m a fan. It just wouldn’t happen in the states with any US star”.
From my point of view I really cannot see me traveling half way across the world to see anyone else. I like real people. I know I could not have paid enough money to see my better half enthralled by the man she has grown to respect; and I hate to say it love. The other thing with Jackie is you get a man fullfilling the Bible saying (and no doubt other similar Western & Eastern sayings) ‘To he who has been given so much, much is expected!”
No sitting at home, instead for Jackie tours and charities mixed in with his filming, although sadly judging by how many women love his singing, no new album. In a global context it is good for us all to be involved in not only Jackie but his charities, he achieves so much that we cannot and must be lauded for his work, although I guess he would just shrug his shoulders as if to say ‘it’s the way I am’
I will stop or I’ll never send this in time. Finally a big thank you to Rebecca for her patience and assistance at all times and to Richard. Thank You, you really helped to make the occassion even better. With Love and Thanks.

Dear Richard & Rebecca, We would like to thank you for your brilliant organisation and co-ordination of the events in Hong Kong. It was a very successful trip and we had a marvellous time and would recommend that everyone visits Hong Kong at least once.We found Hong Kong to be a dramatic urban environment and rather like its action films - fast, frenetic, pacey and beautiful to watch.
Thanks for a fantastic trip and the wonderful opportunity to meet Jackie Chan - a personal highlight and a memory I will always treasure.”
GAIL FRITH (Leicestershire, UK)
I know we only arrived back in the U.K. this morning but I put my photos on the computer this afternoon and just had to send you this one. I’m absolutely delighted with it, and have already got it as wallpaper on my PC desktop and mobile phone, and printed out a lovely, glossy 7″ x 5″ photograph (a larger framed one will come later!).Actually, looking at my face, the words “cat” and “cream” come to mind!
Thank-you so much for giving me the opportunity to meet Jackie and have this wonderful photograph taken. You both know how much he has helped me over the last 2 years with his films and music, and to actually get the chance to meet him, well I still can’t belive it - even though the both of us are staring back at me from this photograph! What a great week it was, and I (and everyone else I’m sure) do appreciate how much hard work you must have put in to ensure that everything went as smoothly as it did. Well done - keep ‘em coming!
But of course, a special big thank-you must go to Jackie for allowing this event to be organised. As I wrote on the glass window at the JC Group offices - “Jackie, you are everything I knew you would be!” And that is… a lovely kind, warm-hearted and genuine person - thank you so much!
ANDY MAC (Bedfordshire, UK)
Dear Rebecca, It was so nice to meet you and Richard at the JC office last week in Hong Kong. Thank you for letting me know you will put a photo of me and Jackie in the next issue of Screen Power, I am really grateful.I have been a fan of Jackie’s for 20 years since I was 8 years old, and have all his movies on DVD. The Tour was great and meeting Jackie was a once in a life time experience.
If you didn’t send me that letter I woundn’t have known about the tour, I would like to say here a BIG thank you for letting me know.
Looking forward to the next issue of Screen Power!
ROBERT & SARAH TAYLOR (Yorkshire, UK)
Dear Richard & Rebecca, I just had to write and say what a brilliant trip we went on with Screen Power to meet Jackie Chan in his hometown was beyond belief, also to have the opportunity to see all the beautiful sights of Hong Kong was just magical. The tour was managed so well by Screen Power and the hotel was great and the staff there were really friendly and helpful.
The Lantau day trip you organised for us was out of this world, in fact everything on the Tour was out of this world. This was our first time flying and we were a little nervous but we are so happy we did it now.
I know the both of you must have worked very hard before and during the Tour and both myself and Sarah thank you so much. See you next time.
CARL SULLIVAN (Warrington, UK)
Dear Richard,Just wanted to say thanks to you and Rebecca for organising the trip to Hong Kong for the Jackie Chan Friendship Tour 06.The week was fantastic. Not only did I get to meet Jackie, but also had the chance to tour his offices and studios, and some sight seeing of Hong Kong as well. An amazing experience that I’ll never forget. Hope to see everyone again soon on another Screen Power event.
JAYNE HAYLES (Chester, UK)
First of all, I would like to thank Richard & Rebbeca for all the hard work they put in both before & during our trip to ensure that we all enjoyed ourselves. From start to finish it was an experience I will never forget, of course the highlight of the trip was meeting Jackie! I was fortunate enough to be first to have my photo taken with him and the Hong Kong press were taking lots of photos too!
Other organised events that I really enjoyed were going to the peak where Richard tried to push me off as well as going on the Star Ferry to Kowloon (for some retail therapy), as well as several other events (to numerous to mention.) A big hello to the other 18 adventurers who also had such a fantastic time.
