MVM have announced the UK DVD release of ‘Solty Rei – Volume 1′ for the 16th March 2009. Produced by Gonzo and directed by Yoshimasa Hiraike (‘Excel Saga’), the series combines sci-fi, action and drama in the futuristic story of a lone bounty hunter whose life is saved by a mysterious cyborg.

Synopsis:

Roy Revant is living the hard life of a bounty hunter in a broken city, a city where thousands have died in a mysterious event called the Blast Fall. Those who have survived share the pain of loss, while countless ‘Resembles’ – people whose mangled bodies have been rebuilt with high-tech prosthetic devices – walk the streets.

Yet there are those who have suffered in ways that even science cannot mend, and Roy is one of them. Stuck in a deep rut of misery, Roy is searching for a miracle that will give him some hope of happiness and salvation. One night, unexpectedly, his miracle literally falls from the sky…

Like many others roaming the city, Solty is a Resemble, but one unlike the world has ever known. Despite having the appearance of a sweet and innocent young girl, from head to toe she is a complete machine of unknown origin. Possessing super strength and endless stamina, Solty is a force to be reckoned with and a good ally to have around when trouble comes calling.

When their paths cross, it is a chance for Roy and Solty to find something they are both desperately without - the comfort of a family. But in this post-Blast Fall world, pain and alienation are never too far away.
