Wong Kar Wai Showcases Ashes Of Time Redux

Wong Kar WaiAt this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, Hong Kong director Wong Kar Wai put in a special appearance to showcase a new version of his 1994 film, ‘Ashes Of Time’. Simply titled ‘Ashes Of Time Redux’, the film has been re-cut by Wong and won rave reviews earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival.

‘Ashes Of Time Redux’ was among five Chinese-language films being screened in Toronto. Others include Jia Zhangke’s Cannes Golden Palm-nominated ‘24 City’ and Yu Lik-Wai’s ‘Plastic City’, a Golden Lion competitor at the recent Venice film festival. The annual Toronto festival is widely considered by filmmakers as a warm-up to the Oscars and it ran from the 4th - 13th September.
